What is a Traffic Marshall?

Banksmen are operatives trained to direct vehicle movement on or around site. They are often called traffic marshals. Our 1/2 Day Traffic Marshal (Banksman) Course is a very important ticket to have for anyone working in construction, security, manufacturing, hospitality, parking enforcement or anyone with the responsibility of loading, unloading and movement of vehicles.

The course is aimed at supervisors, managers and anyone who wishes to control vehicles on and around site.

Core Units:

The HSE Compliant Traffic Marshal (Banksman) course is a 1/2 day course and is divided into several units:

2. Traffic Management
3. Traffic Risk Assessment
4. Responsibilities of a Traffic Marshall/Banksman
5. PPE & Safety Signs
6. Dangerous Manoeuvres – Reversing
7. HSE Hand Signals
8. Assessment

Course Materials

All course materials are provided for the training course.

Assessment

Students must attend all sessions of the Traffic Marshal course.

This is a very interactive course and students are assessed daily throughout undertaking individual and group exercises, case studies and there is a multiple-choice test on the course.

Qualification & Renewal

Students are awarded the Traffic Banksman/Marshal certificate and card.

The qualification is valid for 3 years, after which students will need to undertake a 1/2 day Traffic Marshal Requalification course to maintain the qualification for a further 3 years.

Traffic Marshall Course Tutor

Our course tutors are qualified and experienced health and safety professionals, with extensive experience in First Aid, Health & Safety, Construction and Risk Management.

All our Trainers hold numerous appropriate First Aid and health and safety qualifications such as a NEBOSH General Certificate, and the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety which is the leading Health & Safety Award in the Construction Industry.

Additionally, all our Trainers hold teaching qualifications which is a minimum Level 5 which is well above the required industry standard to ensure that we deliver Training of the highest Standard.
